Testing Tuesday

Testing in the digital age - booklaunch

Presentation #1
“Testing in the digital age; AI makes the difference”

New technology like Artificial Intelligence and Robotics requires new skills. Testing will grow from evaluating current behavior of an IT-system to forecasting future behavior. Also, the boundary between testing and monitoring will fade. Continuous testing is a prerequisite for implementing DevOps. But in the Ops part we’d rather speak of continuous monitoring.

Artificial Intelligence heavily leans on data, big data. So data science will become a pivotal topic in the testing profession. And data science, especially the analytics part is very important in cognitive QA platforms.

With the addition of physical machines, we will see the need for digital assurance towards new non-functional requirements grow. Think of topics like ethics (what may an AI system do with the information it gathers) and embodiment (how should a robot look to be fit for purpose for your business process) are important in a new setup of quality characteristics.

This presentation highlights these topics (and more) that are all worked out in the recently published Sogeti book “Testing in the digital age; AI makes the difference”.

Presentation #2
”Hands on ‘testing in the digital age’”

Robots, AI and Blockchain technologies are growing each day. We think we know what a robot is, but our imagination sadly is stuck in the present day and not in a future ten years from now. AI on the other hand seems scary and incomprehensible, but the current implementations are actually quite simple. Blockchain is perceived as money for the dark web and digital speculation, but actually blockchain is also about automation – an automation of subjectivity and autonomy.

Go on a trip with Bartek Rohard Warszawski into the deep sea of possibilities, where Bartek will show how testing has been a vital part in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd industrial revolution and will also be vital in the 4th. Testing is not only to assure the quality of the automation, but also to improve the automation, and be improved by automation. Bartek will show examples from the past about robots, AI, and blockchain – yes, these technologies are not new, they just had different names. He will also show examples of the early tomorrow about what we will be testing, how we will be testing, and why we will be testing.

Alle deltagere vil modtage en voucher til en ebogs udgave af Testing in the digital age

Om talerne

Rik Marselis is a testing expert from the Netherlands. He is one of Sogeti’s most experienced management consultants in digital assurance and testing. As a test consultant and test manager he assisted many organizations in improving the quality of their IT-systems and the way these systems support the business processes.

Rik regularly contributes to the testing profession through research and development. He is a fellow in Sogeti's research network, SogetiLabs, and has contributed to a variety of articles and books on quality and testing. His most recent publications include ‘Testing in the digital age; AI makes the difference’, ‘TMap HD’, 'The PointZERO vision', 'Quality Supervision', ‘Integrate Test Activities in Agile Projects’ and 'TPI NEXT'.

Currently he is investigating the consequences of Artificial Intelligence and robotics on the quality & testing profession. Both in the sense of "how to test an intelligent machine" as in "how to use an intelligent machine for testing". Rik is also an accredited trainer for TMap-, TPI- and ISTQB certification training courses and has created and delivered many bespoken workshops and training courses on test engineering and test management. Rik's presentations are always appreciated for their liveliness, his ability to keep the talks serious but light, and his use of practical examples with humorous comparisons.

Bartek Rohard Warschawski is an expert in TDD (test driven development), BDD (behavior driven development) and test automation. He defines "knowledge" as the ability to predict a local future - if you can predict something, then you can prepare for it. Bartek has almost three decades of years of experience within software development and testing, which he uses when he speaks at conferences, writes articles and holds workshops in TDD and test automation He has also written multiple training materials.
